Routesetter: Crimper’s Climbing Gym

As a Setter for Crimper’s Climbing Gym you will work with the Head Routesetter and other Setters to create, fore-run and maintain boulder problems, top-rope, auto-belay, and lead routes.  Also, hold washing, hold organization and maintenance, and wall maintenence are essential jobs of this position This is a physical and difficult job, and requires several years of routesetting experience

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

  • Set boulders, top-rope, auto-belay and lead climbs on specific setting days with the setting team as well as independently.

  • Set climbs of all levels from VB to V9 and 5.5 to 5.13a.

  • Maintain existing climbs as needed throughout the gym.

  • Wash holds, organize holds, fix holds, maintain function of t-nuts on wall.

  • Set for special events, competitions, and USAC sanctioned events.

  • Maintain an encouraging, yet critical environment which upholds Crimper’s Climbing Mission Statement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent understanding of climbing movement and the ability to discuss and implement these concepts effectively.

  • An ongoing learner’s mentality.

  • Excellent climbing skills.

  • Very hard working.

  • Having an eye for detail.

  • Caring about your work.

  • Understanding and respecting all levels of climbers in your setting.

  • All professional level setting skills for both bouldering and roped climbing.

Compensation is commensurate with the applicant’s experience and qualifications.

Hourly: $20 to $25

This is a part-time, year-round position.

Requirements:

·       Must pass back-ground screening

·       Ability to achieve USA Climbing Coaches Certification

·       Excellent Verbal Communication Skills

·       Knowledge of both Bouldering and Rope climbing skills

·       Valid drivers license
