Reporting:
Routesetters report directly to the Setting Manager.
Location:
Routesetters routinely travel between all Benchmark Climbing locations, currently:

1414 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94109
Position Description:
Benchmark routesetters work directly with the Setting Manager to design meaningful, engaging, fun, accessible, safe, and varied movement challenges for our members and guests. Setters are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all climbing structures, holds, and equipment.
Additionally, they’ll assist with special events, competitions, and create photo and video content as needed.
Hours and Availability:
● Part-time position, 24 hrs/week
● Availability to work a flexible schedule based on special events and competitions, including some nights and weekends.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
● Being a community leader and ambassador; engaging with community members in a thoughtful, compassionate and meaningful way
● Fostering a fun, inclusive and uplifting community and work environment
● Setting creative, interesting, thoughtful, accessible, safe, and varied movement challenges
● Stripping dirty holds, washing, sorting, and maintaining high standards for clean and organized work spaces
● Honoring safety protocols and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during applicable tasks
● Working collaboratively with the Setting Team; providing direct, clear, and actionable feedback during forerunning
● Demonstrating strong self-objectivity and desire to grow
● Maintaining an active Kaya profile and uploading photo and video content regularly
● Working collaboratively with managers and other team members to ensure the highest quality and consistent user experience
● Setting for competitions and special events
Requirements:
● Must be at least 18 years of age
● Minimum of 3 years setting experience
● Must have understanding and ability to demonstrate climbing movement up to V7
● Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50lbs
● Must commute to all Benchmark locations
● Must be punctual and reliable
● Must be a clear communicator who is willing to give and receive constructive feedback
● Professional and motivated, can work autonomously or collaboratively in dynamic environments
Experience (preferred but not required):
● USAC Level 1 or higher certificate
● CPR/AED/First Aid certification
● Youth and Open competition setting experience
Compensation:
This is an hourly position with pay commensurate with experience.

The employee is regularly required to utilize manual dexterity to handle or feel; use both hands at the same time; reach with hands and arms; reach overhead with arms; walk on hard/soft and even/uneven surfaces; use a computer; talk, yell and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
